Oman’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) is set to launch an international tender for Phase Two of the country pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, it has been announced.

According to a report by Muscat Daily, Phase One of the project includes services related to preliminary design, development, production and supervision of the content of the pavilion. Phase Two will include the supervision of the construction process, furnishing and equipping the pavilion, and then decommissioning, removal and disposal of the materials and waste, in addition to the full management of the project.

Designed to resemble a frankincense tree, the Oman pavilion will feature five zones, and will illuminate how frankincense has contributed to Omani advancements in transportation, knowledge, manufacturing, sustainability and exploration. Visitors will be shown large-scale, high-impact moments, as well as subtle interactive experiences created using augmented and mixed reality technology developed in the Sultanate.

Located in the Expo’s Mobility district, the pavilion is titled ‘Opportunities over time’. The design for the project was revealed in November 2018. Oman will be taking part in the mega event alongside regional and international organisations from 190 countries from October 20, next year to April 10, 2021.
