KONE Corporation, the Finnish elevator and escalator giant, has won an order to supply 418 elevators and escalators for Line 3 of the Riyadh Metro, from the Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA).

In a statement, the company said that it would equip Line 3 of the metro, which is the longest of the six lines being built for the Metro project. The line stretches for 41km, across 22 stations. The order will consist of 262 KONE escalators, while 156 elevators will be installed – 96 of them scenic.

The systems will be equipped with KONE E-Link monitoring systems, it added.

“Riyadh is at the centre of fast-paced infrastructure developments with the city’s metro being one of the world’s biggest infrastructure projects. We’re extremely proud to be partnering on this project and help fulfill the demands of the growing commuter base,” said Pierre Liautaud, executive vice president for KONE South Europe, Middle East and Africa.

The line is expected to be operational by the end of this decade, while the order itself was booked in the fourth quarter of 2016, KONE added.
