Muscat National Development & Investment Company (ASAAS) has announced the commencement of construction works to develop Al Hafa waterfront in the Al Hafa area of Salalah in the Governorate of Dhofar.

According to an Oman News Agency report, the total area of the waterfront will be more than 60,000sqm. ASAAS has assigned the main contractor to construct the traditional heritage souq, with the developer pointing out that the Al Hafa area is a vital waterfront in Salalah and one of the most important landmarks in the Dhofar Governorate. It aims to make it one of the country’s leading tourist attractions.

Ahmed Salim Al Busaidi, Chairman of ASAAS Board said that the partial operation of the market is expected to be in July 2022, while the full operation will be in 2023.

He added that a heritage souq with local architectural design elements will be developed as an alternative to the current souq. The area will house many small and medium enterprises, as well as some international brands to meet the needs of visitors.
