Bahrain has announced the official opening of the interchange at Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman highway and Isa bin Salman highway, a key infrastructure development project for the kingdom as it will expand the country’s main road network and develop first-class infrastructure across Bahrain.

HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister said Bahrain was committed to sustainable urban development that yields real community benefits, creates new economic opportunities, and facilitates traffic flow, a report by BNA said, citing remarks at the official opening ceremony.

Prince Salman also underlined the economic benefits an advanced road network system would bring, including bolstering economic productivity, in line with the vision of His Majesty the King.

During his visit, Prince Salman was briefed by Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalif, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Development Projects and Infrastructure, on the interchange, at Riffa Palace, the report added.

The project includes the construction of an overpass with two lanes to increase traffic flow between North Manama, Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman highway, and Riffa and Isa Town East via Shaikh Isa bin Salman Street.

Furthermore, the five-lane expansion of Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway is taking place on both sides of the highway next to Shaikh Isa bin Salman highway and Budaiya, the report added.
