HH Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah has directed relevant authorities to accelerate the pace of work on phase one of the development of Dibba Fujairah Port, according to state media, WAM.
During a visit to the Dibba Fujairah Port, HH Sheikh Hamad was briefed by the project’s field engineers and officials on their achievements and procedures. He was also explained their plans to complete the project’s subsequent phases within the planned timeframe.
The project is being implemented by four leading companies in the field of maritime docks, loading machines and port infrastructure to make it a multi-purpose commercial port by the end of 2022.
Scope of work includes the construction of two 650 m docks, 18 m deep, and cranes with a capacity of 4000 tonnes per hour in addition to setting up eight berths in the later phases of the construction. Valued at $217 million, phase one of the project meets the requirements of all maritime commercial activities and increases the UAE’s competitiveness in the field of high-capacity ports. Additionally, a port of fisherman will also be constructed.
HH Sheikh Hamad further remarked that the development of the port at an overall estimated cost of $435 million aims to facilitate the transportation of primary materials, to meet growing global demand and the requirements of all types of ships.
