Elsewedy Electric, the Egypt-based wires, cables and integrated solutions provider, has announced that its unit, Elsewedy Electric for Trading and Distribution, has been awarded an EPC contract for the construction of a $22.3 million substation in Sadat city, Egypt.

The EPC contract will be executed over a 14-month period on a turnkey basis, Elsewedy Electric said. The company has executed more than 1,000km of high-voltage transmission lines with both (220KV and 500KV), and substations (220KV and 500KV), across Egypt and Africa, the statement added.

In August, the company said that it had inked a deal with The Societe Nationale D Electricite (SNEL) to build a 220-15/6.6 kV high voltage distribution substation in the city of Kasumbalesa in DR Congo.

That agreement was also signed through its subsidiary Elsewedy Electric for Transmission and Distribution of Energy on August 6, 2020, and the project will be developed in the province of Haut-Katanga at an investment of $38.6 million.
