Bahrain’s Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning ministry has said that steady progress is being made on the kingdom’s Water Garden development project, with Phase Two work on track.
According to a BNA report, citing the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, construction work on the parking lot and service only buildings have already been completed.
Khalaf was speaking following an inspection of the progress of work on the 60,000sqm site. He also underlined the keen interest in the key project from Princess bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King, and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), the report added.
Khalaf also stressed upon the importance of conserving the historic identity of the garden, including the lakes which cover a 12,349sqm area.
He directed the authorities to fast-track the project so that it could be inaugurated within the coming months, adding that most development works are nearing completion as planned, the BNA report added.
Finally, Khalaf also outlined the ministry’s strategy to intensify the plantation of environment-friendly trees to reach a total of 1,200 and to expand green spaces.
