India’s Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) order from NTPC to set up a flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) system at the Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power Station in Madhya Pradesh.

L&T announced that the order falls under its ‘significant’ category which suggests that the order value falls between $139 and $347 million, according to its classification. The EPC contract at NTPC’s power station is for stage I and II, which involves setting up six 210 MW FGD systems and two 500 MW FGD systems, the company said in a BSE filing.

This is in continuation to the order received for Stage III and IV which required two 500 MW and another two 500 MW systems, respectively in September last year, it added.

According to the statement, the company said that with this order, it will be implementing FGD systems for 12 units constituting 4260 MW at NTPC’s power plant, which will ultimately have the maximum number of FGD systems in one location.

Additionally, earlier this month, L&T had said its consortium L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering had received a contract from Saudi Aramco for the supply of 28 offshore jackets in Zuluf, Marjan, Sfaniya and Ribyan offshore fields in Saudi Arabia.
