SEWA says 37bn gallons of water produced in 2018

According to the latest statistics released by Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA), the amount of water produced in Sharjah during 2018 reached in excess of 37 billion gallons.

The statistics also highlighted that the biggest share of water consumption was by the residential sector, with almost 62% (17.2 billion gallons) of total consumption. In comparison, the commercial sector consumed 24% (6.7 million gallons), the SEWA statement added.

Governmental sector consumption was at 9%, industrial consumed 5% and agricultural use was just 0.1%, it stated.

Dr Rashid Al Leem said that SEWA is making great efforts to produce, desalinate and distribute water to consumers and is making efforts to raise awareness about the importance of water conservation and how to use it optimally.
