Arabtec’s Group CEO Hamish Tyrwhitt says ADNOC’s $870mn contract award to a consortium including the contractor’s wholly-owned subsidiary Target Engineering Construction Company will strengthen ties between the two UAE giants.

Arabtec revealed today that Target’s consortium with Spain’s Tecnicas Reunidas has won the EPC contract for the second phase of ADNOC LNG’s Integrated Gas Development Expansion (IGD-E) project.

Works on the project are scheduled to begin in October and are expected to take 54 months to complete.

Through the deal, Target will build the gas processing trains, “supporting utilities and offsite facilities that will enable the transfer of 245 standard cubic feet per day of additional gas to Hasban from Das Island in the UAE,” said Arabtec.

Mott MacDonald has been appointed the project management consultant. FLUOR Corporation has prepared the FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) for the project.

“This award to Target strengthens our long-standing relationship with ADNOC Group and further builds on our reputation and portfolio of projects in the oil and gas sector,” commented Tyrwhitt in a statement. “We look forward to working with Tecnicas on the successful delivery of this project to ADNOC LNG.”
