GL events Middle East has been appointed as the general contractor including the overlay of delivery for the 18th Asian Games in Indonesia. The overlay delivery includes tents, grandstands, barriers, containers, power, ventilation and air conditioning, scaffolding, media desks, broadcast compounds, interior fit-outs and branding.

Commenting on the contract win, the firm says the Games are one of the largest projects that it has ever undertaken in its history. According to a statement, the project management team for the event will involve as many as 150 members of staff from GL events Group, while more than 1,000 local workers will be called upon for the preparation and execution of the event’s various phases.

“GL events Middle East started the project by clearly defining the team’s overall mission, i.e. the successful delivery of the second largest multi-sport event in the world, the 2018 Asian Games. The principle of working closely with GL events’ headquarters underpins how we operate: GL events Middle East is responsible for the overall project management and GL events head office teams – supported by other business units providing key resources for the project and extensive experience in jumbo events. Great teamwork is our main strength,” said Benoit Beylier, MD of GL events Middle East.

The company, which is the regional branch of GL Events Group, also says that it has extensive experience in delivering sporting events in the region including the Dubai Tour, UCI Cycling World Championships, Rugby Sevens, etc.
