Damac Properties has completed the raft foundation work for tower B at Aykon City, its four million sqft master development located on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road. Setting the foundation saw the pouring of over 200,000 cubic feet of concrete within a 24-hour period.

Following the completion of foundation work, construction can now begin on the main columns, ahead of the pouring for another slab, which will comprise the tower’s first basement level.

“This foundation slab sets the stage for accelerating development at this iconic project, and we look forward to seeing the tower rise up to complement the existing skyline. Aykon City is one of Damac’s flagship master developments in Dubai, and aims to offer residents and visitors quality experiences, with an abundance of services and amenities to suit all ages and lifestyles,” said Niall Mc Loughlin, SVP of corporate communications and marketing at Damac Properties.

Laying the foundation was a complex challenge for the project management (PM) team to address, according to Mc Loughlin. The slab also called for the concrete to be poured in a temperature-controlled environment and the PM team ultimately minimised traffic delays during the setting process by completing the work within a 24-hour period.
