Firefighters were on Sunday called to a blaze at a Dubai construction site, in the latest of a string of fires at high-rise blocks in the UAE.

The fire at Emaar’s Fountain Views towers development was brought under control, the official Dubai Media Office said via Twitter.

Four people who were trapped in the building were rescued by Civil Defence and police, The National newspaper reported.

“Dubai Civil Defence brings under control fire that broke out in under-construction Fountain Views Towers in Downtown,” the Dubai Media Office said in a tweet.

The “fire at Fountain Views towers has been brought under control; cooling operations are underway.”

The fire at the Address Residences Fountain Views, which will have 60 storeys on completion, caused roads around the building to be closed, Reuters reported.

The incident is the latest in a series of fires at high-rise towers in the UAE, amid ongoing concerns over the quality of materials used in some buildings in the country.

It is the second fire at an Emaar building in the Downtown Dubai area since the New Year’s Eve blaze at the Address Downtown hotel. Earlier in 2015, a huge fire hit The Torch building in Dubai.
