Work on the $1.08 billion Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City is nearing completion, officials have said, with handover to the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2017.
According to a WAM report, the Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada) is following a “clear and specific schedule” to deliver the giant project, which is coming up on a 300,000sqm area in Abu Dhabi.
It is being built in line with the highest international standards and specifications, the report said, quoting Hamad Khalifa Al Murar, Musanada’s acting chief executive. It added that SEHA was providing input and cooperation as a strategic partner.
The Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City is strategically located in the Al Mafraq area and it will include mostly covered parking for 1,660 cars, Al Murar added. He also called it a “major development in the regional healthcare sector”.
He said that 91% of the external works, landscapes, utility buildings and electricity and air conditioning plants were completed. Al Murar also highlighted the work in progress on the facility towers and external clinic buildings, the report added.
Furthermore, the project’s electric power and air conditioning systems are in the process of being tested on an ongoing basis, while 59% of the facility’s medical equipment has been tested and installed, he concluded.
