Ajman Sewerage plans to invest AED 600 million ($163m) for the expansion of its modern infrastructure projects, the company said in a statement.

The move comes as part of the company’s new strategy to focus on environmental preservation plans and customer experience enhancement programmes that will benefit the expanding emirate of Ajman.

Ajman Sewerage’s chairman Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi reviewed the investment plans, budget, and expansion strategies, which have been lined up for 2017 in co-ordination with the company’s board of directors.

Sheikh Rashid said: “With the $163 million expansion plan, we are committed to the development of a sustainable and modern sewerage system. Our capacities and strategies alongside leading water treatment technologies aim to benefit Ajman’s citizens.”

By 2020, the size of the sewerage network is expected to double with more than 600km of pipelines and 30 pumping stations in total, thus allowing 100,000 additional citizens to benefit from the modern sewerage infrastructure.

“Our mobile application and the new e-payment platform on our website which have been both launched in October this year will further improve our customer’s accessibility to our services,” commented Christophe Ledur, general manager, Ajman Sewerage.

Ajman Sewerage is a government venture in partnership with Besix and Veolia.
