The UAE plans to build 729 houses in Ajman in a project valued at AED 1 billion ($272m), state news agency WAM reported.

The project is set to be the largest residential complex built under the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, which launched in 1999.

“The housing project is to be implemented based upon the leadership’s directives to provide houses to citizens, so as to enjoy social stability,” said Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development and Chairman of the programme.

“The AED 1 billion complex was designed to cater to the requirements of citizens in the emirate of Ajman, for the time being and into the future.”

Factors such as sustainability, safety, eco-friendly design and energy efficiency had been considered during the design of the 950,000 square metre complex, Al Nuaimi added.
