Sweden’s Scania is marking its 125th anniversary at the Bauma exhibition in Munich this year, showcasing the heavy-haulage R 730 10×4, capable of handling up to 150 tonnes.

The R 730, which the brand labelled its “show-stopper”, can carry a load of up to 250t when permitted, Scania said.

The manufacturer is exhibiting five trucks at Bauma, the international trade fair dedicated to construction vehicles, equipment and mining machinery. In addition, a 6×6 AWD mining truck is also on display.

The construction sector looks positive for Scania, particularly in large European markets, the company said in a statement.

“Scania’s vehicles and services perfectly match the characteristics and solutions being sought by operators today. On top of this, we have the most fuel-efficient powertrains and our quality is regarded as industry leading,” said Christopher Podgorski, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing at Scania Trucks.

Apart from trucks, the brand is also exhibiting industrial engines meeting Stage V emission standards at Bauma. Although the standards will not be mandatory until 2019, Scania is able to offer compliant engines in advance.

The Swedish manufacturer’s new range features engine-management and emission-control systems developed in-house. All three platforms in the Scania line-up – 9-litre, 13-litre and 16-litre – feature output ranges from 202 kW to 566 kW.

“Scania’s industrial engines are based on our successful Euro 6 engines for on-road applications,” says Anders Liss, vice president sales at Scania Engines. “Our first Euro 6 truck engines were introduced in 2012, and we now have a proven track record in this area.”
