Commercial vehicle manufacturer Iveco has unveiled the new Daily Electric at the Ecomondo green technology trade fair in Italy.

The new Daily Electric is a 100% electric, zero-emissions vehicle suited for urban applications like door-to-door distribution and passenger transport.

Improvements on the new model include reduced energy consumption, a 20% longer battery life, an extended range of up to 280km, and a 100kg increase in payload capacity. Battery performance is optimised for all weather and temperature conditions, and the batteries are fully recyclable.

In addition, the vehicle offers flexible charging modes allowing users to recharge it using public or private infrastructure, by connecting it to a fast charging station for a charge time of two hours.

The Daily Electric allows the driver to choose between two driving modes: Eco mode, where the engine torque is moderated to minimise energy consumption; and Power mode, which offers full performance of the electric drive motor.

Another new feature on the new Daily Electric is a regenerative braking system, allowing the driver to decide which braking method to use while driving. Depending on road and the traffic conditions, the most appropriate braking mode can be selected, minimising energy consumption while maintaining driveability.

The Turin-headquartered manufacturer designed and built the first Iveco Daily powered by electrical propulsion in 1986. The range was subsequently extended to include vans and urban minibuses.
