The Duqm Special Economic Zone Authority (SEZAD) in Oman has floated a tender for building a service corridor between the Duqm Refinery and a liquid jetty, it was reported.

The scope of the contract includes earthworks, security-related work and bridge work to allow Duqm Refinery to lay its pipes, connecting it to the Port of Duqm in the industrial zone, Times of Oman reported.

Tender documents for the project will be available to contractors from August 24, and the last date of submission is September 16.

“This is an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project that requires experienced contractors with previous experience in the design and construction of pipeline support,” said the tender announcement by Sezad.

The Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries Company is a joint venture between Oman Oil Company and Abu Dhabi’s International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC), developing a grassroots refinery with an output of 230,000 barrels per day. The refinery comprises hydrocracking, hydro-treating and delayed coking units, along with sulphur recovery, hydrogen generation and merox treating units. Diesel, jet fuel, naphtha and LPG will be its primary products.

Galfar Engineering and Contracting was awarded a tender for site preparation work for the proposed refinery in May. Site preparation work is due for completion in the second quarter of 2016. It comprises the excavation and compaction of more than 12 million m3 of soil, and will lay the groundwork to begin refinery construction in 2016, according to a statement by Duqm Refinery.
