Abu Dhabi’s highest tower, the Burj Mohammed Bin Rashid, has clinched an award recognising it as the ‘best tall building’ in the Middle East and Africa.

The 382-metre structure at World Trade Centre was handed the award by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), according to a press statement.

The Burj Mohammed Bin Rashid tower also stands to be judged, along with three other winners from around the world, for the 2015 Best Tall Building Worldwide Award in November.

Also nominated are the One World Trade Center in New York, CapitaGreen in Singapore, and Bosco Verticale in Milan.

The Abu Dhabi tower is named after Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Aldar, the developer of the tower, says the building is home to 422 families and a total of 1124 residents.

“On behalf of the team at Aldar, we are extremely pleased to have been commended with such a prestigious award,” said Mohammed Al Mubarak, chief executive of Aldar, in a statement.
