Dubai Municipality officials have addressed more than 500 complaints, requests and issues related to projects under construction in the first quarter of this year, it has been reported.

The figure represents over 30% of the total number of issues addressed during the whole of 2014, according to a report in Gulf News, suggesting a slight increase in cases on a three-month basis.

Dubai currently has more than 15,000 projects under construction. The issues raised included reports of on-site accidents, violations, and instances of non-compliance with engineering and safety requirements. There were also reports of inconvenience due to night-time works, Dubai Municipality said.

Abdullah Al Shezawi, head of the engineering supervision department at the municipality, said inspections are undertaken regularly at construction sites. The municipality also has an emergency team of engineers and technicians to respond to any issues brought to the government body’s notice.

Al Shezawi urged members of the construction sector and public to bring to the municipality’s notice any cases of violations, by calling the toll-free number 800-900.
