Volvo Trucks has had a strong year in Qatar, doubling its sales compared to 2014, local media reported.

To celebrate the 100% sales growth, Volvo Trucks’ Qatari dealer Domasco recently hosted a business dinner for VIP customers, Gulf Times reported.

“Volvo Trucks has seen exceptional growth in the Qatari market this year. At Domasco, we value the strong relationships we build with our clients above all else and that is why, for us, it is not only about the product but the total solutions that we can offer to them,” said Domasco managing director Faisal Sharif, quoted in Gulf Times.

Mohamed Majeed, Domasco’s commercial vehicles sales and marketing manager, noted that the distributor had achieved the full sales target for 2015 by the end of the third quarter.

At the event, customers were given a product presentation about the FMX transit mixer, equipped with what Volvo Trucks claims is the strongest chassis in Qatar, with an 8mm thickness.

The truck comes equipped with a Volvo’s I-Shift automated manual transmission, said to offer higher fuel efficiency while enabling drivers to focus on the road instead of changing gears.

In March, Volvo Trucks reported a 112% increase in sales of trucks equipped with its I-Shift automated gearbox for 2014, compared to the previous year. The number of trucks sold in the Middle East equipped with the I-Shift contributed to 40% of sales last year, as opposed to 24% in 2013.
