Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to open the final stage of Al Yalayes Road, completing the link between the E311 and E611 highways, on August 7.

The Al Yalayes Road will link the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road at the Al Houdh R/A with Emirates Road via Dubai Investment Park (DIP). Spanning four lanes and stretching 9km, the road will also provide entry and exit points to DIP, Jumeirah Golf Estates through signalised roundabouts, which can later be converted to flyovers, RTA said in a statement.

The project also included building a ramp on Emirates Road (formerly known as Dubai Bypass Road) to ease the flow of traffic from Jebel Ali to Sharjah.

The new traffic corridor will help divert a significant number of vehicles from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, which currently experiences severe traffic snarls, to Emirates Roaad, said Hussain Al Banna, director of traffic at RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency.

“The new traffic corridor is expected to be used by about 55,000 vehicles per day and more than 4,000 trucks during the morning peak hours as it provides a link between the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and the Emirates Road,” Al Banna said.

“Al Yalayes Road is considered one of the arterial roads serving newly developed communities in the Emirate, such as the DIP and the Jumeirah Golf Estates, and forms part and parcel of RTA’s plans for upgrading the road network to cope with the rising urbanisation rates and traffic volumes in those areas.”
