The US-based consultancy Parsons has bagged the contract for infrastructure design and construction-supervision services for the Dubai Expo 2020 site.

Parsons’ scope of work on the 438-hectare development – which will consist of multiple pavilions, souks and entertainment venues – includes designing, monitoring, managing and delivering the project infrastructure.

“Given the magnitude and distinctiveness of Dubai Expo 2020, this is a significant win for us and we are deeply committed to supporting Dubai with our global and local resources to provide a new level of sustainable design and operational services,” said Todd Wager, Parsons group president.

Construction on the Expo 2020 site, which will be able to accommodate 300,000 visitors, is scheduled for completion by 2019. The master plan for the gated Expo area features three distinct zones, dedicated to the sub-themes of Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability, which will converge at the central Al Wasl Plaza.

Parsons has been working on projects in the Middle East and Africa for over 60 years and its portfolio of ongoing projects in the region includes major highways and bridges, rail and transit, airports, ports, water infrastructure, hospitals, public schools, universities, mosques, and other public buildings.
