MAN Truck & Bus is showcasing its range of next-generation emergency rescue vehicles at Interschutz 2015 in Hanover, Germany.

The German manufacturer is presenting its rescue vehicles in weight classes of 7.49 to 44 tonnes, including the TGL, TGM and TGS series. Interschutz is a trade fair for fire prevention, disaster relief, safety and security.

MAN, which recently marked 100 years of commercial-vehicle manufacturing, has a history of engineering vehicles for rescue and firefighting operations.

“The reliability and robustness of MAN vehicles is appreciated by rescue services around the world and especially here in the Middle East region,” said Dr. Richard Brown, head of product management at MAN Truck & Bus Middle East.

The vehicles being displayed at this year’s Interschutz include sector-specific features such as Allison automatic gearboxes in the driveline; electronic stability programme (ESP) for rescue vehicles with engageable all-wheel drive, and payload optimisation in the TGL series.

The MAN TGL is best suited to small firefighting vehicles, and is equipped with a two-axle chassis that comes in different variants in the 7.49 to 12t weight class. Its four cylinder engines produce 150, 180 or 220 hp, with the most powerful engines in the series delivering 250 hp.

The TGM series – with a weight range of 12 to 18 tons – is the most popular choice for the fire service segment. A MAN TGM base is used frequently for various sizes of crew firefighting trucks, turntable ladders and telescopic masts, gear and recovery trucks, hose layers and swap-body vehicles.

Meanwhile, the MAN series is designed for heavy-duty loads. The series has different variants with two, three or four axles, which can be combined with leading or trailing axles. The performance range of the six-cylinder inline engines extends from 320 hp to 480 hp.
