King Fahd International Airport (KFIA) in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, has signed a contract with XP Jet America to establish and run a private-aviation terminal, local daily Arab News reported.

The project, scheduled for completion in two years, reflects the growing number of private aircraft in the region and the need for a dedicated terminal, it was reported.

The terminal will be located north of the airport’s royal pavilion and will include a special aviation building on a private courtyard built to accommodate dozens of aircraft of different sizes.

KFIA last year recorded a 16% growth in air traffic compared with 2013, the highest rate since the airport opened, it was reported.

Passenger growth is set to touch new highs this year, with nine million people expected to pass through the airport, according to its management.
