The London-listed scientific-testing firm Exova Group has won contracts worth over £3.7m ($5.6m) to test key infrastructure on the Doha Metro project, the firm said in a statement.

The contracts range up to three years and involve materials testing, safety engineering, specialist fire strategy and consultancy, Exova said.

The global firm – which provides testing, calibration and advisory services – said its background in other Middle East transportation projects would come into play.

“We are able to apply knowledge and experience gained from our work on mass transit infrastructure across the Middle East, including the Dubai Metro and Saudi Arabia’s Haramain High Speed Railway,” said Hicham Abdallah, managing director of Exova for the Middle East, Asia and Asia Pacific.

The Doha Metro is currently under construction, with phase one anticipated to open in 2019. Upon completion in 2026, it will consist of four lines covering 132 miles and serving 85 stations.

Shares in Exova Group, which trade on the London Stock Exchange, were 1.38% higher at 4pm London time on Tuesday.
