Saudi Arabia invites bids for two medical city projects

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the National Centre for Privatisation and Public-Private Partnership (NCP), has sought expressions of interest (EOIs) for the development of two key medical cities in the Kingdom, it has been announced.

According to a statement from the Ministry, the King Faisal Medical City (KFMC) will come up in the Asir region of the country, while the Prince Mohammad bin Abdul Aziz Medical City (PMMC) will be located at Sakaka in the Al Jouf region.

It added that the projects are being tendered as a PPP under a model of Design, Build, Finance and Operate (with no clinical operations), Maintenance and Transfer.

All required studies and legal work for KFMC have been completed, with the support of NCP, the Healthy Ministry said, adding that the project will have a 1,024-bed capacity and will serve the southern regions. PMMC will have a bed capacity of 442 and will serve the northern regions.

The winning private bidder will also be responsible for completing the construction of the medical cities with an innovative design aimed at providing health services at a global standard. The deadline for submitting the EOIs has been set as January 10, 2022.
