Al Futtaim Engineering and Technologies (AFET), part of the Al-Futtaim Group, has announced that it has been awarded a three-year contract to provide facilities management services for Dubai Municipality’s Mohammed Bin Rashid Library (MBRL).
In a statement, the AFET said that the win was a testament to its ongoing relationship with Dubai Municipality, and its stellar performance results on current projects in partnership with the government entity.

Completed in 2019, the MBRL is built over 54,000 square metres of land and located in Al Jaddaf, Dubai. The project’s design features are inspired by the shape of a Turkish lectern. Furthermore, the building incorporates modern technology to support scientific research and the knowledge dissemination goals of the institution.
Al-Futtaim’s Facilities Management teams submitted the proposal for the MBRL, extensively collaborating with Dubai Municipality, Serpakkam said.
The MBRL consists of a basement, ground floor, and seven floors, including of a fully automated bookstore and Digitalization Laboratory. It also houses specialised libraries such as the Information Centre, Public Library, Periodicals Library, Children’s Library, Atlas and Map Library, Media and Arts Library, and more.
Additionally, it is home to a theatre with the capacity to host more than 550 people, equipped with the latest audio-visual technologies.
