The Principality of Monaco has said that it has reached a crucial stage in the construction of its country pavilion for Expo 2020, following the installation of solar panels at the pavilion.

From now on, the electricity generated by these solar panels will be supplied back to the Dubai power grid network, a statement explained. It added that the electricity generated during the one-year period starting from March 1, 2021, will be given back to the Monaco pavilion during the six months of its operation at the Expo, in order to offset its consumption.

A high-level delegation from Monaco, comprising of Madame Mireille Pettiti, President of Monaco Inter Expo, Richard Milanesio, Advisor to the Sovereign Prince’s Cabinet, and Thomas Battaglione, General Director of Société Monégasque d’Electricité et de Gaz (SMEG), essential partner of Monaco Pavilion, took part in a ceremony to mark the solar panel installation work at the Expo 2020 site.

The ceremony was also attended by Reem Al Hashimi, Minister of State for the International Cooperation and Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai, Pierre Dartout, Minister of State of Monaco and Albert Croesi, General Commissioner of  the Monegasque Pavilion.
