Etihad Energy Services (Etihad Esco) has inked an agreement to upgrade the lighting systems at the Drydocks World facilities. The scope of work includes the application of modern, smart, indoor, and outdoor lighting solutions at Drydocks World facilities, with 378 lighting units to be replaced at the smithery and pipes workshop, as well as at outdoor lighting areas.

Drydocks World says that it expects the project will save around 943,094 kWH annually, equaling to $114,240 – the equivalent power consumption of 60 apartments per year at 55% of the total lighting power consumption in the targeted areas.

Captain Rado Antolovic, Drydocks World CEO said that through its strategic partnership with Etihad Esco, it was committed to improving energy efficiency at its facilities, using world-class, cutting-edge technologies.

Etihad Esco is a subsidiary of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority. It said that it plans to create an energy-efficient contracting market for energy service companies by auditing and proposing energy conservation standards for contractors and developers through retrofitting buildings and increasing energy efficiency, in addition to solar energy projects and the provision of smart supervision and control solutions through measurement and verification centers.

The firm said it also plays a role in raising the awareness, guidance, and training of all community groups and workers in this field including contractors, consultants, and service users.

Acting COO Faisal Al Raisi explained, “Etihad ESCO is proud to provide a variety of energy services to Drydocks World facilities. The current project will add modern lighting solutions to the solutions package. Etihad Esco seeks to implement several energy efficiency projects and expand the utlisation of these projects by customers, contributing to the realisation of the 2030 Demand Side Management Programme and strategy; which was developed by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE), the DSM strategy and it’s various programs to achieve 30% reduction in energy consumption by 2030.”
