Ajman Sewerage, a government venture in partnership with international water treatment experts Besix and Veolia, has announced that work has begun on Phase Three of its foul drainage and wastewater collection project at the Humaideya Sector 1 of the northern emirate.

The scope of work includes laying of a complex drainage and wastewater collection network that will connect to Jurf 2 commercial network and provide sewerage services to residential and commercial developments in the area.

The network will also include more than 525 manholes, a statement from the company added.

The $15 million project will serve 2,500 properties and is being built to service a steadily increasing population in the emirate, which recorded a 1.85% increase in 2019.

The new pipeline, which is part of Ajman’s long-term network expansion master plan, will see more than 60km of pipeline added to the system, the statement added.

On the key project, Chairman Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi said: “The Ajman Sewerage System Humaideya 1 project is timely as it comes when the region is transitioning to a new normal that might eventually lead to a surge in demand for connection.”

“This network expansion project will, therefore, ensure that we have the adequate capacity not just to serve every customer but to offer reliable and steady service,” he noted.

The new foul drainage and collect wastewater network is expected to be completed by Q1 of 2022, he concluded.
