Oman LNG and Qalhat LNG have pledged $15.6 million to support national efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact.

According to an Oman News Agency report, $5.2 million will be donated to the fund set up by the Supreme Committee for COVID-19 and the Ministry of Health to combat the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak. $10.4 million will be used to support the Job Security Fund established by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, who initiated the fund with a personal contribution of $26 million.

Harib Al-Kitani, Oman LNG CEO said, “We express our sincere gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and the authorities for their efforts and precautionary measures to ensure the safety of our communities and people during such challenging times. We at Oman LNG have been accustomed to meet the country’s expectations from private sector in both good and challenging times”.

Oman LNG states that it has been working closely with the Ministry of Health in sponsoring various initiatives and projects to identify the requirements in hospitals and clinics, as the ministry increases efforts to control the spread of the virus and provide the necessary treatment for those affected around the Sultanate.

The company also says it recently funded the purchase of critical tools and equipment for hospitals and clinics in South Sharqiya Governorate, in coordination with the Ministry of Health.
