The UAE government has announced that it is set to hand over a total of 1,729 housing units to Emiratis in need by the end of the year, as part of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme.

In a statement, the Minister of Infrastructure Development and chairman of the programme, Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, said that the decision to help these citizens was reiteration of the fact that the UAE leadership is keen to ensure the wellbeing of its citizens.

He added that the programme would help them secure permanent residential accommodation and enjoy a sense of security.

The $544 million housing project will see around 888 homes delivered in Ras Al Khaimah, 500 in Ajman, and a further 341 in Dubai.

Dr Abdullah added that the leadership is keen to ensure that these modern units have all the required facilities, as would normally be found in housing.

In another development, it has been announced that the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme has approved $107.5 million to help 503 citizens acquire residential accommodations through housing loans and grants.
