Sheikh Khalid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, chairman of the Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority (SPSA) has announced that all buildings in Sharjah will be linked to an advanced fire-detection system -Aman, by mid-2020.

The Aman system will help enhance the emirate’s fire prevention capabilities and implement the best industry practices to build a safe and risk-free society, the emirate’s top official added.

The SPSA had visited 4132 buildings to educate the management about safety measures and instructed them to rectify any errors. It also provided awareness to community members in residential areas – housewives, domestic helpers and workers – on how to ensure safety and prevent hazardous incidents.

Al Qasimi further added that Aman is an advanced fire detection system that can be installed in commercial and residential buildings. Effectively, many buildings in the emirate have already been linked to Aman and works are progressing to link all establishments by mid-2020, he said.

He continued: “The system allows 24-hour monitoring of fire alarms, boosting the capability of Sharjah’s General Directorate of Civil Defence to immediately respond to fire incidents. The system can easily be integrated into fire alarm panels of any building and it connects effectively to two central monitoring stations through mobile data and telephone networks.”

Additionally, the SPSA has conducted training sessions on how to comply with occupational and safety hazards, which was attended by 1674 people.
