SNC-Lavalin says it has promoted Michael Dunn to SVP Resources, Middle East and Africa, and Asia Pacific, effective October 17, 2019.

Based in the United Arab Emirates, Michael joins the company’s Resources senior leadership team, leading the business’s oil and gas, and mining and metallurgy activities in these regions, explained the company in a statement.

“As we continue to grow our Resources business in the Middle East and Africa, and Asia Pacific regions, the appointment of Michael Dunn will further strengthen our capabilities and market offering by delivering world-class end-to-end engineering and consultancy, project delivery and asset management services,” said Craig Muir, president, Resources at SNC-Lavalin. “Bringing a wealth of experience and regional industry knowledge, I’m confident that he’ll continue to cement our footprint and lead our business expansion for the future.”

Michael first joined SNC-Lavalin in May 2019 as managing director, Resources, Arabian Gulf Countries, “ensuring their development strategies and operational capabilities are aligned with the new strategic focus of SNC-Lavalin’s Resources sector”.

For 20 years he has held operations and management, building businesses and delivering project roles in the oil and gas, and mining and metallurgy markets in the UK, Middle East and Australia.

“His extensive 10 years’ GCC experience will also play a key role in repositioning the company’s service offering, leveraging its existing capabilities and delivering on its growth plans in the region,” said SNC-Lavalin.

“Prior to joining SNC-Lavalin, he worked for 19 years with Worley where he held a number of senior positions including leading country operations in Oman and Australia. His early career was spent with KBR, Falcon Drilling Company and McDermott International. Michael holds a Bachelor of Engineering, Hons, in Mechanical Engineering from Robert Gordon University, Scotland.”
