Mumbai-based Steel Carriers Infrastructure (SCI) has become the first company in India to own and operate a 1,200t-capacity class mobile telescopic crane after the crane services provider acquired the AC 1000-9 all-terrain crane from Demag.

Terming the delivery of the crane as not just a proud achievement for SCE but for the manufacturer as well, Norbert Dudek, director and head of Demag Business Asia, said: “The Demag AC 1000-9 is undoubtedly an outstanding crane in its class. All the more reason for us to be pleased that our long-standing and loyal customer Steel Carriers Infrastructure has acquired the first crane of this type in India. The AC 1000-9 will give Steel Carriers Infrastructure a decisive competitive advantage and enable the company to tackle even larger projects.”

Saeesh Nevrekar, head of Demag Business India, added: “Steel Carriers has always been a loyal Demag customer and we look forward to continuing our relationship with them.

A Demag statement also quoted Sunil and Naresh Makad, owners of SCI, as saying: “The AC 1000-9 will be helpful to clients ranging from refineries, petrochemicals, cement, fertilisers to civil projects, where height and space are limited. Our new addition will reduce the mobilisation time and cost with all terrain manoeuvrability and robust build of the crane. It will be easy and quick to reach worksites and set up the crane in comparison to big crawlers. We, at Steel Carriers Infrastructure are delighted and proud to acquire the Demag AC 1000-9 in our fleet to serve our clients with the best in class service.”
