Expo 2020 Dubai’s India pavilion begins construction

The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) has announced on twitter, that construction work for the Indian pavilion for Expo 2020 Dubai has begun.

Located in the Opportunity District, the project’s scope of work involves the construction of a four-storey pavilion which will showcase India’s strengths in innovation and start-ups.

Titled ‘opportunity’, the pavilion will focus on areas such as artificial intelligence, infrastructural works, installation of solar-powered water heating networks, installation of fire protection systems, construction of associated facilities, fin-tech, space, and green energy. It will also exhibit various central programs such as Make in India, Smart Cities, and Digital India.

India’s Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri, tweeted that deadlines and plans were being reviewed for the Indian pavilion for which construction will be completed by August 2020.

Additionally, the 4600 sqm. pavilion will also include a two-storey plaza building. The structural work is expected to be completed by December 2019, while the civil works will be completed by March 2020, Puri tweet separately.

NBCC Limited formerly known as National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited, is an Indian Government Enterprise, which will supervise the construction of the pavilion through its Dubai subsidiary, NBCC DWC.

Expo 2020 Dubai will open its doors on 20 October 2020, and is the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia’s first World Expo.
