Egypt’s Elsewedy Electric for Trading and Distribution (EETD) has signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract worth $18.55 million to build a transmission line and an internal network for the Al Canal Sugar Company, a subsidiary of UAE-based Al Ghurair Group, in Egypt.

According to a statement from EETD, a subsidiary of Elsewedy Electric, the EPC contract will cover the construction of a 180 km long internal network of 33 KV with a value of $13.55 million on turnkey basis. The contract, according to the company, will be implemented over a 24-month period starting from the date of signing the contract and receiving the advance payment.

In addition, the EPC contract will also oversee the construction of a 33 KV transmission line with a value of $3.18 million, with the contractor responsible for the design and execution of the project. The energy solutions provider, meanwhile, stated that the EPC contract will be implemented over a six-month period commencing from the date of signing the contract and receiving the advance payment.

Elsewedy Electric, EETD’s parent company said in the statement that EETD had signed a contract worth $26.8 million to build a substation and a transmission line for Canal Sugar Company in April 2019, as well. With the new contract in place, the value of all the contracts with Al Canal Sugar Company stood at around $45.35 million, the firm stated.
