Meraas has appointed contractor ASGC to build the new Dubai Cruise Terminal at the under-construction Dubai Harbour development. The terminal is said to be the region’s first dedicated cruise port and, on completion, is expected to be the most advanced in the Middle East.

The Dubai Cruise Terminal will become the main hub for international cruise ships visiting or deployed in the region, the statement from ASGC said.

ASGC’s scope of work includes the construction of two main cruise terminal buildings positioned on a quay of approximately 1km, in addition to service buildings, a central unit building with all associated fit-out works, external works, and all fixtures, fittings and equipment.

Bishoy Azmy, CEO of ASGC said projects that contribute to the development of the country’s infrastructure and sectors are ones that ASGC is proud to be in, and that his company is committed to deliver the project utilising the latest construction processes.

The Dubai Cruise Terminal is expected to have 300,000sqft of floor area and will create ‘a unique, iconic entry experience to all cruise ship passengers who arrive in the emirate’. It will be able to accommodate passenger turnaround of two mega cruise ships concurrently, approximately 15,000 guests.
