Kuwait has announced that it is opening up two 28,000sqm artificial islands connected to the newly launched Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah Causeway for entertainment and touristic investment.

According to a report by Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), HH the Prime minister, Sheikh Jaber Al Mubarak Al Hamad Al Sabah has asked the cabinet to take all required legal and administrative measures to speed up the process of seeking investment from tourism and leisure industry specialists listed on the Kuwait Stock Exchange.

“This decision is an endorsement on the private sector’s pivotal role as a partner in developing the economic and tourism sectors in Kuwait and the implementation of the New Kuwait-2035 Vision,” said Tariq Al Mazram, government spokesperson, in the report.

The causeway is one of the longest high-speed bridges in the world, spanning 37.5km across Kuwait Bay from the capital Kuwait City, to the Subiya area. It was inaugurated by HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah earlier this month.

Of these two islands, one is located near Kuwait city and the other near Subiya,  the KUNA report added.
