Specialty chemical manufacturer Sika has announced plans to build a new factory in Dubai. The firm stated it also moved and expanded its concrete admixtures production facility to its new premises in Dubai Industrial City.

A mortar facility and a reactor for producing polymers has been installed, which will constitute the basis for the production of high-performance concrete admixtures, said a statement from Sika.

“The new site in Dubai Industrial City is conveniently located between Dubai and Abu Dhabi and has been established as our strategic production, distribution and sales centre for the entire GCC area. We have thus created the ideal conditions for developing our growth potential in these booming construction markets,” said Ivo Schädler, regional manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Sika.

The firm says material streams, logistics, and the cost structure have been optimised through the move and set the company up for further growth.

“The local polymer production facility will help to significantly cut costs and make it possible to supply customers in all GCC states with customized concrete admixtures for demanding construction projects,” he added.
