The capacity of the Al Yalayis 5 water pumping station has been increased to 36m gallons per day, according to a statement from the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). The project cost $12.3m and was undertaken to meet the growing need for water across the city.

The project included the supply and installation of new water pumps, testing and commissioning them, and additional electromechanical work.

“DEWA is establishing a water network infrastructure in accordance with international standards of efficiency, reliability and availability to meet the current and future requirements of the emirate. This is done by increasing the flow of water to meet a growing across Dubai,” Al Tayer said.

The utility company said it is eager to achieve customer happiness by adopting the latest and most efficient techniques for the production, transportation and distribution of water that also meet international standards.

DEWA’s statement also pointed out that the average daily water consumption in Dubai was around 322m gallons, while average consumption during peak summer times peaked at 362m gallons.
