Bahrain authorities have said that work on Phase One of the Khalifa Town development is progressing well, with more than 400 residential apartments in the town ready for handover.

According to a report by BNA, the development will have 1,500 housing units available once completed.

Housing Minister Bassim bin Yacoub Al Hamer visited the work site to review the project progress, the report added. It said that the visit coincided with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of Bahrain, on the distribution of ready-made units in Khalifa Town, and the implementation of the order of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, on the distribution of 5,000 housing units.

Following his visit, Al Hamer has briefed ministry officials and engineers on the ongoing works on the project, both in the construction of units and in the infrastructure works, the report said.

The technical team also reported that the ministry has already achieved completion rates in 421 housing units in the town, and in the infrastructure works, which has contributed to the start of delivery of units to beneficiaries.

Al Hamer also reviewed the progress of work on another site in the development, which is focused on the implementation of 862 units and 192 apartments. This project is expected to be completed by the end of 2018, the BNA report added.

He also visited the worksite, which has 120 housing units being built, in accordance with the building models prepared by the Prince Charles Foundation for Building Community, an advisory institution that has prepared the general and detailed plans for the project.
