Kuwait looking to invest $26.6bn into new infrastructure

According to state news agency Kuna, the Kuwaiti government is planning to launch several new projects, which includes the building of new roads and related infrastructure. The government is reportedly looking to invest $26.6bn into the new ventures to address the increasing population and residential expansion within the country.

“The authority had hammered out a plan to execute up to 80 ventures aimed at facilitating traffic in coming years,” explained Ahmad Al Hesan, director general of the roads authority and land transports.

Al Hesan added that the projected budget for next was $1.6bn. The government is also said to have set aside $42m for miscellaneous expenditures. Eight of these projects have already been “finalised,” he confirmed.

The network for main roads and bridges will become the main pillars of support to developmental projects based on Kuwait Vision 2035. In recent years, the government has spent $5.2bn on infrastructure projects according to Al Hesan.
