Al-Futtaim Toyota says that eight sweep raids on counterfeit car part dealers held in partnership with the UAE Government during the first two months of 2018 have resulted in the confiscation of 178,781 of fake car parts worth $1.14 million.

In statement, Al Futtaim said the eight raids were executed across Al Ain, Umm al Quwain and Dubai.

“In Al Ain, a villa was raided with the help of the municipality, police, Al Ain Economic Development Department (EDD) and other government entities, resulting in the confiscation of counterfeit parts worth AED 120,000 ($33,000). Another batch of counterfeit parts worth AED 1.2 million ($333,000) was found in a 40ft container in Dubai Warsan 3,” it said.

“The dangers accompanying the use of counterfeit car parts are massive,” said Saud Abbasi, managing director, Al-Futtaim-Toyota. “These parts are not produced by certified manufacturers and do not meet the standards of safety and quality set by manufacturers. Using these fake parts not only puts the driver at risk, but also their families and the public. We implore the public to always opt for original and high-quality parts from authorised dealers.”
