Mohsen Salah, the chairman of Egyptian state-owned Arab Contractors says the company has entered into a JV with Orascom Construction Company (OC) to build the country’s first monorail on the outskirts of Cairo.

Speaking with Amwal Al Ghad, Salah said the two companies will work with Canadian Bombardier Company after they secured the contract for the $1.4 billion project. Works will include changing the location of utilities and constructions as well as power plants and the installation of railway bars.

“Orascom had earlier submitted a full study to execute the monorail,” said Salah stated adding that the monorail will form a link between Sixth of October City’s district and Giza.
