The Big 5 show opened today in Dubai, with 75,000 participants expected at what is billed as the Middle East’s largest construction event.

The co-located PMV Live and Middle East Concrete will be held alongside The Big 5, which runs from November 21-24 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Over 3,000 exhibitors are expected at The Big 5, which originated 37 years ago from the amalgamation of five separate product-focused events.

The five product sectors in which exhibitors are grouped this year are: Building Interiors & Finishes, MEP Services, Building Envelop & Special Construction, Construction Tools & Building Materials, and Smart Building & Design technologies.

Visitors will also be able to cast their vote for the show’s GAIA Awards, which since 2008 honour companies in the construction sector whose products and services demonstrate a reduction of construction’s impact on the environment.

Among the over 100 applications received, the judging panel selected ten companies presenting very innovative products that will have a tremendous impact on the Middle East construction sector.

The GAIA Awards will take place on November 23, with the overall winner set to receive a prize of $50,000 in marketing value.

In 2015, the Big 5, held in conjunction with PMV Live and Middle East Concrete, welcomed a record of over 73,000 visitors across 113,526 square metres of space.
