The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Huawei signed a knowledge partnership deal at GITEX 2016 to enhance cooperation in technical and scientific fields consistent with ‘Smart Dubai’ initiatives, reports WAM.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, and David Wang, CEO, Huawei UAE, aims to provide DEWA with the support required to launch unique smart services by harnessing the latest innovative technologies in the field of information technology.

According to the terms of the MoU, the two parties will establish a joint team to launch pilot programmes using the latest technologies. These include the development of new innovative and actionable initiatives and research and development projects.

“This agreement will help DEWA develop its services and applications to the highest international standards,” noted Al Tayer.

“Huawei is pleased to collaborate with DEWA to deliver on the vision of Dubai’s leadership to become a smart city,” commented Wang.
