UAE-based facilities management company Farnek has announced in a press release that it has acquired a Dubai-based specialist hygiene firm, Smashing Cleaning Services.
Although no details regarding the cost of acquisition were provided, the firm says that Smashing will be integrated into the group’s Hitches & Glitches company.
Smashing was founded in 2004 and has an annual turnover in excess of $2.7 million (AED 10 million). It staff comprises of 65 technicians that manage its 2,500 customer base that include Aldar, Emirates, Jumeirah and Etihad.
Its 32 different types of specialised services include air duct cleaning, indoor air quality testing, kitchen exhaust cleaning, water tank cleaning and pipeline disinfection.
Other services include cleaning beaches, apartment garbage chutes, laundry ducts, grease traps, drain lines and mist filters as well as HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) duct smoke testing.
Markus Oberlin, CEO at Farnek, said: “These specialist services dovetail neatly with our existing proposition – traditional FM, sustainable maintenance, smart home solutions and SME packages. We envisage benefits from the economies of scale this acquisition will offer – that is a broader range of services for each call out, as well as online access to these new services.
“The technicians at Smashing are all highly trained, suitably qualified and are conversant with the relevant local authority certifications and comply with global industry associations and international quality, health, safety and environmental standards, providing synergy with the technical abilities of our existing workforce.”
The company also noted that all of Smashing’s employees will be shifted to Farnek’s head office and its current headquarters will be as a materials and storage facility.
James Day, who is currently the managing director of Smashing will head the new Hitches & Glitches entity moving forward, and will be assisted by Lukas Eigenmann, COO of Farnek.
